What is silk?
Silk is a natural fiber derived from the larvae of silkworms. It is one of the oldest and most esteemed human textile materials, prized for its delicacy, sheen, and unique properties such as strength. The process of silk production begins when silkworm larvae create cocoons, from which silk is obtained. The cocoons undergo processing, often through boiling, to remove the glue that binds the threads. Subsequently, the long threads are unwound and twisted, forming strong fibers ready for spinning. Silk has many advantages. It is characterized by a natural sheen, giving fabrics an elegant and luxurious appearance. Being a lightweight, breathable, and cool material, it is popular in summer and formal clothing. Also, silk can regulate temperature, adapting to the warmth and cooling of the body.
